December News

“Happy Holidays”

This months theme is “Celebrations of the Season”

Your child (ren) will be learning about Hanukkah, Snowman & Mittens, and Christmas!

Things to know:

1. There is a box in the lobby for “Toys For Tots”. If you would like to donate an unwrapped toy, please do so by the 6th.

2. Our fabulous Holiday Shows will be taking place on the 19th. Please leave time in your busy schedule to come see all the hard work the teachers and children have done for the shows. Show times will be announced in a following blog!

3. We are opened on Christmas Eve the 24th until 12:30. If you know that your child will not attend that day, please stop by the office and let them know so they can staff accordingly!

4. Our Winter Break will be from 12/25 to 1/1. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday with your families and we will see you in the New Year!

12/18 – Pajama Day!

Fall Family - B
This month’s theme is Harvest Celebrations. Your child (ren) will learn about the following themes:

Harvest Foods
All About Trees
All Things Fall

The colder weather is slowly approaching, so please make sure your child has the correct change of clothes in his/her cubby for the weather.

We will be welcoming Mystery Readers on November 6th. If you have time from your busy schedule to read a book to your child (ren)’s classroom, please see the office to sign up for a day and time that works best for you!

Our Thanksgiving Feast will be on November 20th. Your child (ren) don’t need a lunch that day since we will be having a feast with our friends inside our classrooms!

Calling all Bakers!!!Homemade Bread Day is on November 22nd. If you are able to make delicious bread, any and all types are appreciated for your child (ren) to share with their classmates!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!We are closed November 28th and November 29th. We hope you enjoy the holiday with your families!

Enrichment Programs

In a previous blog I mentioned some curricular resources our school offers your family that are included in our program. Here are some more that you and your child can look forward to during their education at our school:

1. Sports Mix – This is an introductory program that teaches beginning stretches
and movements for a variety of sports like baseball, soccer,
basketball and hockey!
2. Color Me Healthy – This program is designed to teach children about how to take
care of their bodies by eating healthy and staying active!
3. Art History – This program teaches your child about an Artist and allows them
to try to replica their work by using a variety of art materials
and techniques!
4. Makin Music – Makin’ Music offers the children a variety of songs and movements that
match the seasons and help teach rhythm and tempo!
5. Geography – This introduces the world to your child and helps them learn about
different places and cultures in Europe and Asia!

We are looking forward to watching your children learn these enrichment programs with us and their friends!

October News

Fall - Family C />Community Helpers

During the month of October your child (ren) will be learning about a variety of community helpers and their important jobs. We will be experiencing a Dental Puppet Show on the 8th and the Fire Truck will visit on the 11th!!!

Here are some other activities to look forward to during October:

Picture Day – 9th and 10th
Wear Black Day – 16th
Crazy Sock Day – 25th
Decorate A Pumpkin – 30th
Halloween Magic Show – 31st

Our fun Halloween Parade will be at 3:45 on the 31st. Please send in your child’s costume in a bag for the teachers will be dressing your child (ren) for the parade. Due to the large amount of children in our school, parents will not be allowed in the school to dress their child (ren) for the parade. Please come cheer on and enjoy watching your child (ren) use their imaginations and experience one of childhoods funnest Holidays!!!! The school will close immediately afterward at 4:00 p.m. so you can continue your celebration at home with your families!!

Picture Day is split into 2 days so here are the class schedules: Lions, Chimps, Cheetahs and Giraffes as well as siblings of these groups will be on Wednesday the 9th. Elephants, Zebras, and Crocodiles will be photographed on Thursday the 10th.

September Enrichment

Technology September kicks off a new school year along with new fun activities offered by our many Curriculum Resources!

CPAA is a computer based assessment program that will be starting next week for all our Pre-Kers that are eligible for Kindergarten for the school year of 2014-2015. It is assessment that tests what skill level your child is at in a variety of curriculum areas like Math and Reading. They will be tested once in the Fall, once in the Winter and one more time in the Spring. The results will be shared with parents and the overall progress will be shown at the end of the year after the last session.

Here are some other fun programs you child (ren) will be experiencing during this school year:

1. YOGA- This is a fun exercise program that helps children improve flexibility and
balance while learning new YOGA moves!
2. GGTGA- Guide to Getting Along is a social development program. It helps kids
gain social skills by learning cooperation, kindness, compassion and
friendship towards their classmates!
3. Spanish- This is a wonderful program that helps children learn about another
culture while learning words in its language!
4. B.A.S.E- This program is an active program that focuses on improving motor skills
through a variety of fun activities!
5. Big Book Math and Science- These programs offer big books that help children learn
Science and Math concepts in a kid friendly way!

These are just a few of the fun programs the Goddard School in Chalfont can offer your family. You will always see what resource your child experienced each day written on their daily activity report. Stay tuned for more fun programs that will be described in future blogs!!

The Goddard SchoolWelcome To A New School Year!!!!

We are so excited to welcome back returning families and new families for a New School Year!!
Here are some things to know for the month of September:

Grandparent’s Day – 9th
School Wide Pajama Day – 11th
Book Fair Begins – 16th
Crazy Hair Day – 17th
Goddard Hat Day – 25th

Fall Fundraiser – Next week we will be kicking off our only fundraiser of the year. Please look for the Joy catalog in your mailboxes. Proceeds from this fundraiser help us pay for extra activities for the children like our magic shows, ice cream parties, etc.

Book Fair – Our book fair will begin on Monday, September 16th and be here until Monday, September 23rd. This is cash and carry event! We also accept checks and credit cards .

Grandparent’s Day – Come one, Come all! Monday, September 9th
we will be celebrating Grandparent’s Day. Feel free to come to our school from 10 a.m to 11 a.m for activities, story time, and snack.

Congratulations to Miss Val and Ben who will marry on Saturday, September 28th!!!!

August Activities

The Goddard SchoolHere is what we are looking forward to in August:

Ice Cream Social– Please join us on Thursday, August 8th from 5-7pm. We will be celebrating our 10th Birthday with face painting, moon bounce, DJ, arts & crafts and of course ICE CREAM!!!!! Make sure to bring the whole gang for this is a family event. Hope to see you there!!!

School Closed– The school will be closed on August 30th for a Teacher In-Service Day, and Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day! Enjoy the time with your family!!
